Session FAQ’s

  • What should we wear when we come for our portrait session?
    • First, be sure to wear comfortable clothing.  You’ll be moving around for about an hour and you want to make sure you’re comfortable.  Second, wear clothing that truly represents you and/or your family.
  • Should all four of us wear the same color?
    • That’s completely up to you, but, unless your family always dresses alike, I wouldn’t recommend it.  It’s not capturing your family’s personality.  I do, however, recommend wearing coordinating colors.
  • Are there any colors to avoid?
    • Yes and No.  There are no “bad” colors to photograph.  Sometimes solid black and solid white can be difficult to photograph.  Busy patterns are also difficult to photograph correctly.
  • I would love to have portraits made with my family and my best friend’s family.  Can you do that?
    • Yes, I can.  You should keep a few things in mind first.
      • #1 – The more people at the session means less photographic attention on individual family members.  If you’re looking to have unique individual portraits of each family member, we will run out of time and good outdoor light.
      • #2 – Each portrait collection is priced for up to a family of 5.  There will be a surcharge for each additional person involved in the session.
  • What time of day is best suited for our family portraits?
    • The “Golden Hour” of photography is one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset.  In order words, early mornings and late afternoons are the best times for outdoor portraits.
  • How long can I expect my portrait session to last?
    • I usually reserve 1-2 hours for each session.  Sessions may take less time or more time depending on circumstances.  Newborn baby sessions can last several hours depending on the needs of Mom and baby.
  • Do you have any suggestions on locations for my portrait session?
    • Of course!  There are unlimited possibilities for your session.  I can photograph you at a special scenic getaway or I can even use your own backyard.  Together we can secure a location that best suits you.
  • Do offer a copyright release CD of the images from my session?
    • No.  As a photographic artist, I retain all of the rights to any digital files I have created.  I do, however, offer for sale a Social Media Sharing Disk.  This disk contains a digital copy of all of your finalized images that are suitable for sharing on sites like Facebook or for printing up to a 5×7 print.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    • I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
